Through her blogs, Lainie came into the spotlight when she was discovering her sexuality in the public sphere. She chronicled a relationship she had with a woman she was dating at that time, and by virtue of that political act, she became a voice to reckon with. She wrote for The Sun in the Youth and Culture space. She also writes about street art and art reviews for Kakiseni. She spent her days trying to figure out her space in society, what it was to be a woman, and eventually, a gay woman. She says, “It’s easier to be accepted in the art scene, it’s a safer space, warm and accepting.” Lainie is currently a Social Media Manager at Kakiseni.
